Here is what you need to obtain the release of your car.


  1. Title and registration of your vehicle.
  2. Proof of insurance
  3. If the car is financed statement of amount owed on loan.
  4. Photo identification.
  5. Copy of the order setting the bond.


Remember once your car has been seized you are acuminating storage fees of $30.00 dollars per day as well as an initial towing charge of $250.00.  If your car is leased or subject to a lion you are still responsible for you month payments and insurance. We are also authorized to post vehicle bonds in Nassau County. Seizure court is held every Wednesday in The Supreme court Building in Mineola. You will receive a seizure notice and should appear on that date. All bonds are also subject to a court order. Frequently asked Questions For Suffolk County Car seizures


My registration is in the car can I still bond out the car?

Yes but you must provide title, if you do not have title you may order one from DMV on an expedited basis.


I am not the owner of the vehicle can I still bond out the car?

Only the register owner can bond out the car but you will still have to agree to the terms and restrictions of the bond.


What are the costs?

The Surety fee is 15% of the Bond value set. You are also responsible for any storage and towing fees you accumulate and those must be paid at the time you pick up the vehicle to the county towing facility. How do I find out what my storage fees are?

Please have your Case Number (CC#) and/or your invoice number available when you come to the window. We will need one of these numbers to locate your file so that we may assist you.


Photo ID and proof of ownership (VALID registration or title) are required in order to pick up a vehicle or any other personal property.


If someone other than the registered/titled owner is to pick up the vehicle we require a signed, notarized letter from the owner naming the specific person(s) authorized to pick up the vehicle. This letter is in addition to the above items.

How long does it take to get the car back?


Once the bond is delivered to the County Attorney’s office you should be able to pick up the car the same day.
